Great location, cosy atmosphere, excellent food!

Real austrian food. Tasty? Well, its a matter of taste ;-)

After a visit to Maria Waldrast (be sure to try the water from the fountain!) we came here to fortify ourselves.Beautiful alpine pasture with delicious cheese dumplings and friendly staff.A visit there is worth it!

Phenomenal. Had two Kaspressknödel mit Sauerkraut and it was amazing, probably the best I've ever had. Add pleasant service and good prices on top and you have got a deal that's hard to beat. The views aren't half bad either.

We ate here a very good lunch in a beautiful scenery!The soup with the spinach balls was very tasty, so were the Hauswurst with sauerkraut. The Kaiserschmarrn were heavenly! Great place and reasonable prices.We came with the car, the road uphill is very curvey and private, so it costs 6.

Before I sit down and write objective reviews, I'll let everything sink in for a moment. So it's now been almost four weeks since I was a guest at the Ochsenalm, or is it called Der Ochsenalm?What should I tell them? I had no expectations, so I couldn't be disappointed Trust me when I tell you that the chef knows his craft (since I have been working in the catering industry for over eleven years, you can trust my word with a clear conscience).We had a wonderful experience. After our hike it was exactly what we needed. There were ten of us and we sat at a nice, big table.The service staff was friendly and accommodating. Very competent, friendly and helpful when it came to advice on choosing dishes. Everything happened quickly.You can see from the pictures what we (I) ate.For the starter, I chose the Kaspress dumpling in broth.In the main course I ate the tip of the day: game meatballs (from our own hunt) with fine sauce, red cabbage salad bouquet with potato and celery puree. Just how clever the chef was to form a small thaler out of the puree, fry it and use it as a garnish (crunch) was more than ingenious, not to mention that it tasted incredibly good.Since the starter and main course more than impressed me, I couldn't resist ordering a dessert too and so I ate an apple strudel with vanilla sauce. What should I tell them? I wasn't disappointed there either. Simply delicious.To drink I had a homemade herbal lemonade, which is highly recommended.This restaurant definitely has no equal in upscale gastronomy, but here you can get top drinks and food at more than fair prices without all the chi chi. The price-performance was definitely top. Simply honest, authentic cuisine.I would like to say a big thank you also on behalf of my travel companions.
